PARIS – Organizers have announced that Jamaica’s double Olympic Champ Elaine Thompson will headline a class field of several top athletes at the Paris Diamond League on 1st July 2017.
The Jamaican sprinter has stamped her dominance on the 2017 season and is undefeated thus far. Her performance at this meet is expected would be no different.
The host country expects strong representation from their Olympic medalist with the likes of Renaud Lavillenie, Kevin Mayer, Christophe Lemaitre and Dimitri Bascou.
The 110m hurdles will feature Jamaica’s Olympic champion Omar McLeod while two-time Olympic gold medalist Christian Taylor is set to compete in the triple jump.
Canada’s Derek Drouin is set to battle Qatari rival Mutaz Essa Barshim in the men’s high jump, and Ethiopian world champion Genzebe Dibaba will race Kenya’s Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon in what is set to be a very competitive women’s 1500m.
After years at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, the Parisian meeting is making a major comeback at the very heart of the capital Stade Charlety. The legendary arena will serve as a showcase and a setting for the MEETING de PARIS, the seventh leg on the IAAF Diamond League calendar.
